Our church went camping this past weekend. About 7 families tented it, and 4 others stayed in cabins. It's alot of work to tent camp. It's alot of work to get ready to tent camp! I was not looking forward to the work of getting ready, and it took us most of the day Thursday and some of Friday to get ready to go. I was also unsure of how Benjamin would do. He's still very young (12 weeks) and I hadn't camped with one that young before. But, he did alright. He woke up to eat during the middle of the night each night, but other than that, he was great. It was very cold Friday night and I had trouble staying warm (bringing anything long-sleeved might have helped!), but Benjamin stayed toasty warm the entire night.
We had a great time with our friends and we had an excellent speaker/teacher for both night's devotions. The fellowship is wonderful during a time like this. The kids ran and played all day and into the night.
The only downside to the weekend was when one of our men got hurt. The "older" men were running a race and he tripped and fell and broke his kneecap. He had surgery today. We all felt so bad for him and his family, but he is going to be alright. I told Paul it's a wonder more of those "older" men didn't hurt themselves. They were running with everything in them, trying to beat each other!
This is one of my favorite pictures. Both boys fell asleep during the devotion.
Samuel caught his first fish!
