Draw and Write Through History

I was given this book to review by its author. It is a history/art book, ready to supplement any study of ancient history. This book also provides handwriting and copywork practice. While I would not say that it is a stand alone history text, it is a fun, interesting way to add another element to your history curriculum.

My ten year old daughter read through and used the very clear directions to draw some of the people in this book. She enjoyed learning how to draw the people, step by step, and how they related to ancient history. While we did discuss what she read and what she drew, she was fully capable of doing this on her own.

The main site is: http://drawandwrite.com/index.html and a sample art lesson is here: http://drawandwrite.com/learning.html. If you are looking for supplements to your current history curriculum, this book is well worth checking out.

Draw and Write Through History is authored by Carylee Gressman and illustrated by Peggy Dick. It is published by CPR Publishing. The price is a nominal $12.00.
