Field Trip Day

Benjamin standing up, with help. He thinks he is a big boy already. He has the coveted "scoobs" in this picture. For some reason we've never been able to figure out, Samuel started sleeping with his dad's pajama pants, and now insists on them every night. lately, Ben has enjoyed having them also. Weird!

We went to the Cannonball house with some friends of our today. It is a house that was built in the 1850's and had a military shell shot into it during the Civil War. It is a beautiful house, but unlike the last museum we went to, the kids were NOT allowed to touch anything. Pretty hard if you're a kid! We kept telling the younger ones, "Put your hands in your pockets! Don't touch. Don't touch. Don't touch." At one point, Sam sat on one of the old chairs and I about had a heart attack! The guide was very sure to tell us over and over that nothing could be touched.

They also had a display of old quilts, which I enjoyed very much. I love quilts!

The chamber pot, which, of course, the kids were tickled at.

These girls look thrilled to be here!

The dough bowl. The rolling pin actually belonged to Mrs. Robert E. Lee.

All 8 kids. They did very well in the old house, but were so relived when they could get outside and run and yell and touch.

Eating lunch at the park- absolutely their favorite thing of the day!

Benjamin enjoying the apple core.

He was so tired he just passed out on Emily's shoulder.

Poor baby.

As we were getting ready to leave, a reporter came up to us and asked if he could ask us some questions about the fall foliage. Of course we said yes!

Even I got the chance to talk into the mic! But only Connor made the cut and got on tv. It was fun though and a good ending to a good day.

BTW, since y'all are celebrities now, can I have your autograph?
