We decided to finish up the dining room this past week. The walls had gotten messed up when we closed in the deck back in the summer and the dining room needed alot of TLC. The top color was the same color that is in the living room and we were pleased with it and weren't planning on repainting, only touching up. Well, that was a good plan until we realized we didn't have the name of the paint color. We tried to match it, but that didn't work, so the top half of the dining room got a new coat of pain.
The bottom half was wallpaper and had been up for ten years and showed every one of those years. We went with a chocolate brown with a suede texture. It looks so nice and we loved it! We painted the entire back wall the dark color and it looked great.
The other half of the dining room.
Monday night, I was sitting in the living room, admiring the new paint color and I decided that now, I did not like the green in the kitchen. It didn't go with the new colors. I had planned to touch up the kitchen before our party Wednesday night, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I didn't want to touch it up. I wanted a new color. Paul, who was surprisingly onboard with the idea, asked me what color. Mustard yellow, I said off the top of my head. So, that's what we did and I love how the colors go together!
The new dining room/kitchen colors.
It was alot of work and Paul did most of the painting in the kitchen. We discovered that we both stink at painting trim and that painter's tape is worth every penny. My goal is to repaint the entire house this coming up year- and we already have a great head start!

Very pretty!! I LOVE the result of painting but I really do not like painting at all.
The house looks fabulous.
Next time you're having trouble matching color, try utilizing an established Color Matching System. While this may take time, you will find absolute values to reference all of your color needs.
