Our Trip

We had a wonderful time on our getaway. The "Weekend to Remember" marriage conference was great. We really enjoyed it. We stayed at the Marriott and it was a wonderful hotel.
Yes, this bed was as comfortable as it looks!
Nice, spacious room which stayed cleaned the whole time we were there!!
After the conference, we traveled about an hour north to Clarkesville, to the mountains. It was beautiful. We drove around on Monday, and went to see Anna Ruby Falls. We had been here once before, about 7 or so years ago. This sign says Anna Ruby Falls- .4 miles. I mentioned to Paul that the last time we were here, the walk to the Falls seemed more like 4 miles to me. I wasn't quite sure why. Until we started walking and realized how steep the path was!

But it was beautiful.

Me, trying to catch my breath!

But the view was worth it.

After Anna Ruby Falls, we had a nice lunch at Unicoi Lodge, and then drove to Amiacola Falls. This waterfall is 729 feet high, the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi. We had never been here before, and I read that the hike to this waterfall was easy.
However, what I failed to realize was that there was two trails. One to the base of the falls and one at the top of the falls. We went to the base of the falls and realized, it was not easy and it was steeper than the path at Anna Ruby Falls! I didn't make it all the way, but Paul went on ahead and climbed up 175 steps, until he could go no further.

Me, waiting on him as he comes down.
The view from the top. This trail was easy- park the car, get out, walk a few feet and you're there. But this view was not near as spectacular as the view from the bottom.

But it was still pretty.

The sign says it all.

When we got back, Paul made me a steak dinner. It was delicious!

The view of the sunset from our balcony.

It was a great trip, and we were so glad to be able to take it.

So happy, you two deserve to get away now and then. It is important to keep your friendship as well as your love alive. One day all too soon the children will be gone and you will be left with two nice strangers in the house if you don't keep well aqainted with each other. Love you both Mom Dziadul
