A Confession
I have a small confession to make.
There is a part of me that does not want this baby to come on Friday. And it has nothing to do with being anxious about the c-section.
It has everything to do with how fast I know he will grow. And with the fact that he will probably be my last.
I know what will happen. He will be born, I'll blink my eyes, and he'll be six months old. I'll blink again and he'll be walking. It just goes too fast. They are newborn for such a short time, that I'm not ready for it to begin.
It doesn't seem possible that Sam will be three in a few weeks. It seemed like I was pregnant for a very long time with him, and now, he's a preschooler. I imagine it will be the same with Benjamin.
But, there's no way to stop it- only to enjoy every day. I guess as an "older" mother, this is an advantage. Because I do know how fast babies grow, I tend to take a little more time enjoying each stage, instead of wishing for the next phase.
Yes, a part of me doesn't want him to come so he doesn't start growing, but it's a very small part. I am anxiously waiting to hold him, and to finally lay eyes on this baby that I started loving almost 9 months ago.
(Pictures of the kitchen tomorrow- I'm just too tired tonight. Paul did a great job on the trim work and it looks soooo nice!)

Sunday
I finished Baby Ben's quilt- finally! I will take a picture of it tomorrow, but suffice it to say, I am very relieved to have it done and to turn out fairly well after all the trouble I had quilting it. I think my problem began because I did not baste it well. You can be sure, the next quilt I make will be basted well!
We had an exciting evening here with tornado warnings and watches. Ellie and I were the only ones at home when the siren went off, and she does not do well when she hears that! We turned on the tv to see the weather report, and it said a tornado was spotted not far from here. Great. I should have gone to the basement, but I didn't. My reasoning? I believed there was more chance of seeing a mouse in the basement than seeing a tornado up here. We did have some wind damage in our neighborhood, but no tornados.
Tomorrow Paul is finishing up the trim work in the kitchen and then I will post a picture. The color is different, but it is growing on me. It's just such a vast change that it's hard to get used to looking in there and seeing such a different look.
Have a great evening.

What a day!
Today started out with Paul making a run to Sears to pick up the paint for the kitchen. I had picked out a color at Lowes, but he wanted to get the paint from Sears because it was on sale. He got home, and I left to run some errands. When I got home, I walked into the kitchen and was speechless. It was not the color I picked. It was green, but not the green on the card. Everyone seemed to like it and I did not want to say I didn't like it because of all the work he had done to finish it, but he could tell I really didn't like the color.
But, I told him it was fine-let's just get it done and we'll repaint somewhere down the road.
Meanwhile, last night, our hot water heater died. I know, nice timing. So he's been running around, trying to fix that also. He ordered one online, a new tankless kind, just to find out this morning it probably wouldn't work for us. So in between trying to cancel that order, finding a regular, big water heater and his regular responsiblities (which today included a hospital visit to an elderly man just out of surgery), he ran by Sears and got the right color green.
He tires me out sometimes!
Tonight was our ladies out dinner, so Anna and I went out to dinner and came home to find my father in law and Paul Jr. installing the new water heater, and Paul and Zack (and later Paul Jr.) repainting the kitchen. They got the water heater all installed and I took a nice shower! And they got the kitchen painted (the first coat) and the color looks much better. It's a different color than I am used to (moss green), but I like it. However, now the dining room will have to be painted! It never ends.
All this with a baby coming in six days.
