For Aunt Becca

Aunt Rebecca gave Emma a bag of very cute baby clothes. In it, was this little dress. It's really a bit big on her, but Anna wanted her to wear it tonight to church. She did look very cute in it.
Everyone loved it!

The Second Family

I said to Paul the other day, "Can you believe we have 3 kids 5 and under, again?" It is very interesting to both of us that our "second family" reminds us so much of our "first family". Sam reminds us of Paul, Ben of Zack and Emma of Anna.
And they are like a "second" family. They have different memories than the older kids have and honestly, they have different parents.

Gentler, mellower parents who are thrilled for the chance to do it all again.

She's healthy!

I took Emma to the doctor today for her 2 week check-up (yes, it was a week late seeing she'll be 3 weeks tomorrow). She now weighs 11 pounds, 2 ounces. She is doing quite well and he said she looks great. He also was amazed at how much hair she has. In fact, 2 nurses had to come look at her hair!

The receptionist asked me if Emma was my first. I love the responses I get when I reply, No, she's my seventh. "OH MY GOODNESS!" she said. (well, she didn't actually say "goodness"). I said, Oh 7's not alot of kids! She just laughed as her eyes about bulged out of her head!

The doc asked me if it was easier or harder now to have a newborn. Oh, much easier now I said because I have so much help! With Paul jr, it was just me and him most of the time and he was a very needy baby. Now, if I need a nap or to take a shower or just a few minutes by myself, I have 5 people who are usually always willing to help out.

That's what people just don't understand about having "alot" of children. It does get easier when you get alot of helpers!

Random Thoughts

  • Emma slept till 6 this morning and then went back to sleep until 9:30. I can handle that!
  • She had her first "fussy time" last night. She fussed and fussed for about 2 hours. I told Paul that the "babymoon" was over- the real work of taking care of a baby 24/7 was starting.
  • Paul's lost 5 more pounds bringing his total to 30. He looks great.
  • The room switch is in full swing. It takes alot of time and work to switch kids' bedrooms around.
  • The big boys are in their new room. It turned out very nice and much bigger than I thought it would be.
  • Paul and Zack got a week off in August so they will be able to come on vacation with us for a week. I'm so happy about that.
  • My parents and Emily my neice were here for a quick visit this past week. It was too short.
  • I am finally feeling much better. Still tired out, but that's to be expected. All the pain is gone.
  • Anna and Ellie have been a great help with Emma. I'm not really sure how I had a baby before without them around. When I had Anna (my first c/s), I had Paul, Zack and Anna, all under 6, while trying to recover from the c/s. Paul had a few days off of work and then I was on my own. I tried to imagine doing that this time with Sam, Ben and Emma. I'm not sure I could have!!
  • It has been beyond hot here this past week! But, this extreme heat is easier for me to take than the 90's when I was pregnant. I'm sooooo glad I'm not pregnant!
  • Lots of pictures to follow.

Ben loved the chocolate cake.
He was helping me blow out the candles.

Grandma and Grandpa's Visit

My parents were able to come for a short visit this past week. We were all glad to see them and they were glad to meet their newest granddaughter. Ben and Sam wrestling with Grandpa. (or Canpa as Ben says)
Emily and Emma. My sister's baby and mine.
A game of Scum. Very wild, very fun game .
Everyone loves playing games with Grandma, but it was an added bonus that Grandpa played.
Zack won most of the hands, but by the end of the game, he was in the loser's chair. It was pretty funny.
Grandma and Emma.
Emily.
At church on Wednesday night, my dad prayed a prayer of dedication for Emma since they won't be here when she is dedicated. I was so glad he was able to do this- he and my mom have been at all the dedications of my children.
It was a very special prayer.
All too soon they had to get in their little Honda to make the long trip back home. Benjamin cried and cried when they left- he was really upset and made the rest of us very sad also. He's still talking about Gee-ma and Canpa and how he wants to go to their house.
